About: Cornhole for a Cause
Join us in Downtown Wabash for May's First Friday! A Leadership Development Wabash County team is working to raise funds to help stock the fishing ponds at Josiah White's residential campus. Come out, show your support, and help make a splash for a great cause!
The students at Josiah White’s enjoy fishing during their recreational time. Unfortunately, the fish population in these ponds has declined and needs to be restored through pond maintenance and restocking.
Fishing is more than a recreational activity for these students- it is a powerful therapeutic tool. For teens who have experienced trauma, time spent at the water’s edge offers stillness, patience, and a sense of calm. As casting and waiting helps regulate the nervous system and reduce anxiety, it also helps build confidence and self-esteem as students develop a skill, experience small victories, and take pride in their accomplishments. Perhaps most importantly, it provides a peaceful, low-pressure environment where meaningful connections can form between peers, between a student and family teacher, and between a young person and nature. For youth navigating the effects of trauma, these moments of connection and quiet achievement can be profoundly healing.
We would greatly appreciate your support to help us reach our fundraising goal. You can contribute through participating in our cornhole tournament or making a donation.
